Welcome to the Fall of 2009. This September promises to be memorable and how we remember it depends a great deal on how we will approach the coming aspects. For those who do not access astrological reports and information, it may prove to be a doozy. Even for those of us with the insight and access to this information it promises to be memorable. How we remember it depends on how we approach this period and which tools in our emotional, mental and physical toolboxes we choose to activate. Right now, I'd suggest getting your toolbox out and getting very familiar with all your strongest tools. Holding firm on issues will not be a useful tool at this time. As a matter of fact, this one tool will cause a great deal of pain so, throw that tool in the back of your closet and forget you own it. You can pick it back up when we forge into the Fall Equinox later this month but for right now, pretend it has a blue hot handle that torches anything it touches.
Let Go!
Mercury will go retrograde on the 7th of September in the wee hours of the morning Eastern Time at 6d of Libra. It will continue to retrograde right into Pluto's stationary direct which occurs at 0d of Capricorn which will square the Mercury Retrograde. This square will be in effect right up to and through the New Moon of the 18th of September and it's powerful. Both planets are initiating, Cardinal Signs. Libra is Cardinal Air and Capricorn is Cardinal Earth, there is a Cardinal Sign for each element: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth -- the Fire Cardinal is Aries and the Water Cardinal is Cancer, people with planets in all four of these signs at the beginning of the signs will be most effected by this square of Mercury and Pluto. These Cardinal Signs are the signs that initiate activity, so, while Mercury goes retrograde, Pluto will go from retrograde motion to direct meaning the deep digging we've been doing into our personality and egoic structures internally will now come to the surface externally, albeit, it's Pluto, so, behind the scenes.
In Ancient Myths, the Sumerian, Babylonian, Mesopotamian myths, an initiate was required to travel through the rungs down into hell in order to achieve his or her mastery. Indeed, this is where Dante stole his idea of Dante's Inferno. Remember, "good writers borrow, great writers steal."
What does this mean to you and I?
Gold is in the Shadow: We can only become Beings of Light when we are willing to deal with our individual dark shadows. That which we refuse to deal with will continually come up as projections onto others.
So, again, what does this mean to you?
It means there's gold in them thar hills, darling. Buried treasure always is deep down under, whether it's the treasure of the physical sort or another sort, say, emotional, mental, or egotistical and/or psychological treasure. As we come face-to-face with our own fears, secrets, our own internal daemons, we are rewarded with the greatest treasures. Each of the planets offers its own rewards. As we move out through the planets around the Sun, the treasures become more difficult to unearth and their rewards are much, much greater. As a quick refresher the planets are:
This last planet's name is debated although it's placement is pretty much 21d Libra for the next few decades. Whether or not it is a planet or not is also debated, it is larger than Pluto (by 27%).
Mercury Is Thoth, Hermes, the Messenger
Mercury retrograde means: redo, rethink, re-evaluate, research, all re- words with the mind and messages. Mercury rules our ability to give and get information and if one is in a hurry during Mercury retrograde, especially for the type-As amongst us who are unwilling to slow down, this will get very painful during this retrograde. Mercury is exalted in Virgo, meaning this is Mercury's most powerful placement. Rushing right now will powerfully remind you exactly, in no uncertain terms, why it's wise to know, "the universe is unfolding as it should," and don't push it. I mean in all honesty, are you really going to push God~Goddess? I don't think so.
So, pushing the Retrograde of Mercury will cause: loss, accidents, lack of memory, lost mail, contracts which need to be redone, etc. Haste definitely creates Waste in a Mercury Retrograde period, if not worse.
Crystalline Light
Pluto Is God of the Shadows and the Shadow Land & Your Personal Gold Mine
Now Pluto: the planets beyond Saturn rule those things which are beyond our physical boundaries and senses. As Robert Hand once explained to me, Saturn is the last planet we are able to see with our physical eyes, therefore when I read an horary (predictive) chart, the last planet which would manifest physically on this plane which I could read from the chart was Saturn. Beyond Saturn, the planets' energies manifested "behind the scenes."
So, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto rule those things which cannot be seen such as clairvoyance, dreams, wishes, desires, atoms, DNA, etc. This is a very long etc., list and I'm writing an article not a book here. Although there's an interesting book idea here for some aspiring and enterprising young astrologer who'd like to pick up this thread and run with it: Go for it!
In the Kabbalah the outer three planets rule the Supernal Triad of: Binah, Chokmah, and Keter, which are also Archetypal energies. In my rather large Kabbalistic experience -- not knowledge although I have knowledge but direct experience beyond the Abyss -- which dates back to the 80s, Binah is Neptune, the Divine Feminine; Chokmah - Pluto the Divine Masculine; and Uranus - Keter - the Androgynous Lightening Flash or Still Point or Zero Point. You will find many debates on these rulerships with other astrologers, I'm not interested in the debate. Best solution: do your Kabbalah travels and speak from experience, there's no substitute. "Knowledge" is only theory without experience.
Pluto retrograde has been about digging deep into our psyche. And, being about willing to let go and forgive others and in so doing forgive ourselves. The more we are willing to let go, the more the Universe shows up and gives us exactly what we need. That which we hang onto gives us pain. The tighter we hang onto it, the more pain we get. The reverse corollary of this is: when the universe comes to offer you something whether through a family member, a loved one, a partner, a business, a friend, or even a stranger, the answer is, "yes." Your universe is trying to bring you presents, don't say, "no." If the universe offers you a new job, a new relationship, a new sibling, a new place to live, a new love to enjoy, the answer is, "yes." Don't try to qualify it or judge it, the more judgment you place on any and everything, the less love the universe is able to offer you. Judgments shut down our ability to give and receive love as we've shut the door on the universe before the new gift even had time to flower or emerge. Say, "yes," and enjoy the beauty of the, "yes," and it's a lot more fun than judging and shutting yourself off from your own pleasure. Ironically enough, it is your own Soul, working through your highest chakras, that goes out to the Universe and says, "we'd like this." The Universe then gets to work on its infinite and various ways of bringing you this which you, yourself have requested.
Now, your Soul is very, very forgiving. So, the Universe will just go out and get it for you again and again until you finally figure out that the answer is, "yes." Sometimes you cause yourself a great deal of pain before you say, "yes." Save yourself a great deal of time and energy and just say, "yes," the first time, knowing that on some level you, yourself have requested this person, place, or thing.
Pluto is manure. Pluto's energies when used wisely are fertilizers creating gardens of Eden. Eden's fruits and flowers are infinite in their incredible beauty and abundance. Pluto's energies used unwisely are an upside down outhouse and it stinks. Go bravely into your shadow and find your beauty, become a being of transluscent light. Adamantine, crystalline light is yours, but courage is essential, this is for the bravest of the brave. Or, for those who truly believe or know and live in Light. Once across the Abyss, courage is not required because the fear has vanished.
We all need to become miners of Pluto. We, none of us, have many lifetimes of direct experience with Pluto because Pluto was only discovered less than 100 years ago and you haven't had time to have a couple of lifetimes before this. Pluto has just traversed Sagittarius where in previous centuries he ruled the Age of the Renaissance and the Age of Reason. (I already told you, he is the Gold Mine!)
In this past approximately decade Pluto will be seen as having brought us the Age of Enlightenment, truly waking up, being fully conscious, achieving Mastery, and complete Ascension is now possible for many, many millions of people, including you. The more people that begin to "get it," the more easily it becomes achievable by all. It is the pioneers that always get it first, the Einsteins, the Sri Aurobindos, the Meher Babas, etc., and pioneers are lonely and they get shot. No one appreciates their work, certainly not the masses and certainly not the masses in their lifetimes. Columbus was thought crazy when he thought the world was round, Newton was excommunicated, St. John of the Cross was imprisoned. Being out in front of the crowd is not financially lucrative nor will it garner you popularity. And, it may garner you ex-communication from those you love.
Yet, one must recognize and laud those who are brave enough to continue to pioneer where Angels fear to tread.
An excellent use of the Hod-Chokmah or Mercury Pluto dynamic is to recognize that that which we love and loathe in others is always always in ourselves. Someone who is not a genius cannot recognize genius. If one is a mathematical genius one can recognize this in another. You can appreciate math but recognizing true genius is another matter. By the same token if one dislikes hypocrisy or dishonesty in another, one must recognize that either in this or a previous lifetime, or buried within our unconscious this trait exists. To heal it, which actually creates miracles, forgive this trait in another. Finally, one will see new information coming to light about government abuses, banks' abuses, insurance companies, any and all large organizational structures. As Saturn goes into Libra, the sign of its exaltation in October, we will begin to see justice around these issues but that's the topic of another article.
I was going to include information about the upcoming New Moon in Virgo but as this article has already become longer than I originally anticipated, I will close here and will update you on the upcoming New Moon in my next article.
